Grade Structure:
H1: 80-100%
H2A: 75-79%
H2B: 70-74%
H3: 65-69%
P: 50-64%
N: 0-49%
Results received on individual essays and assignments over the course of the semester are raw scores only. The semester result may be scaled according to Faculty of Arts cohort requirements.
Penalties for Late Assignments
This following process applies if an assignment is late without an approved extension:
- It will be marked in the normal manner, and its grade (not the mark) will be indicated on the piece of work for your information as to the standard the work has attained.
- It will have 5% of this mark deducted for each week or part of a week that the assignment is late. This will be the final mark for the piece of work.
- The examiner, on the basis of a date stamped on the piece of work by the school office, will apply this penalty automatically.
- The resulting grade and the fact that a penalty has been imposed will be indicated on the piece of work.
Exceptions
Exceptions will only be made in the case of serious unforeseen circumstances, such as sudden serious illness of injury. In such circumstances it is the obligation of the student to inform the lecturer in charge or the school as soon as possible.
Return of Late Assignments
Examiners are under no obligation to accept late assignments without an approved extension. If accepted, examiners will mark and return late work in due course, but are under no obligation to return late work promptly or at the same time as work submitted on time.
