Postgraduate Resources

There are many resources and facilities made available to Research Higher Degree (RHD) postgraduate students in the Centre as well as other University services to aid their research and studies.

See the Historical Studies website for information on ethics, funding and research review guidelines.

The postgraduate room is located in the basement of the Old Quadrangle Building, B09

Computers

Computers and printers are available in the Postgraduate Room for use by postgraduate research students only. Available applications include Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Eudora, Telnet and Netscape.

To use any of the PCs, you will need a valid login ID. To setup your account, you will need your name, student number, date of birth, permanent postcode, and your library barcode.

These machines are not backed up by any University service. Keeping backup copies of your research is essential. Almost all systems will work with a USB memory device (flash memory), so it is recommended that you use one of these devices for backing up and carrying your documents around. USB memory devices can be purchased from the Union Shop computer store, or almost any other computer store.

Printing

Laser printing is available to postgraduate students in the postgraduate room. Students must supply their own paper.

Other IT Facilities

The dial-in service is only to be used for research purposes and is limited to a total of 16 hours per month (non-accumulative). The request form (pdf) can be downloaded from the ITS website and then needs to be signed by the Head of School.
