Variations to CandidaturePhDVariations to candidature are explained in the School of Graduate Studies PhD Handbook. They include leave of absence, leave to study away from the University, change in enrolment status between full-time and part-time, change of project and/or of department in which the candidate is enrolled, change of supervisor or appointment of additional supervisor(s), early submission of thesis, extension of period of candidature, lapsed candidature in good standing, withdrawal from degree. Most forms can be accessed from the SGS website. Masters by ResearchThe Faculty of Arts provides information for Masters by Research students on candidature and its variations. Variations involve changes to project, changes in supervisor, leave to study away/overseas, discontinuation of studies and conversion to a PhD. This site provides guidelines and forms covering each variation. HandbooksPhDSGS has compiled an excellent online PhD Handbook that provides information on admission, candidature, leave of absence, research guidelines, supervision, forms, your thesis, and its examination. All PhD candidates receive a hard copy of the PhD Handbook in the post when they receive their offer. Masters by ResearchCopies of the Master of Arts by Research Handbook are available from the Faculty of Arts Student Support Centre or from the Arts Research Office in Room 210.
