Human Research Ethics

Honours students undertaking research that involves interviews and/or questionnaires may need to submit an ethics application to the School Human Ethics Advisory Group (HEAG). Such an application needs to be approved BEFORE commencing your research. It is recommended that honours students aim to submit their ethics applications either to the April HEAG meeting or, for mid-year entry, the October HEAG meeting. For further information, consult your supervisor, and follow the link:

Honours Thesis

Students accepted into the program undertake fourth year level subjects and a short research thesis.

Students must achieve honours-level grades (minimum 65%-H3) for each component of assessment in order to qualify for the honours award.

Honours students must submit a 12,000 word honours thesis in partial fulfilment of their honours year. Guidelines on the preparation and submission of the shorter research thesis are outlined in the Minor Thesis Guide.

Honours students should also check information on the preparation and submission of essays for their fourth year subjects.
