Associate Professor Roger Scott

Qualifications: MA (Cambridge), BA (Melbourne), FAHA.

Roger Scott is a graduate of Melbourne and Cambridge. He taught Ancient History at Sydney, and at Melbourne he has taught a variety of Classical Studies subjects and all levels of Ancient Greek and Latin at one stage or another. He has now retired and is associated with the Centre in the capacity of Research Fellow. The X1Vth Conference of the Australian Association for Byzantine Studies was held in his honour in August 2004.

His main interests are the Greek and Roman historians and the history and society of the early Byzantine empire, and his main research is on Byzantine chronicles. He is a former Associate Dean of the Arts Faculty,  a former president of the Australian Association for Byzantine Studies and is currently President of the Classical Association of Victoria.
