Mr John BurkeQualifications: BA(Hons) Melb, MA Melb A B.A. (Hons) in Classics (Latin and Greek) and an MA in Patristics were followed by three years at the University of Thessaloniki studying Medieval and Modern Greek language, literature and history. Until 1998 Burke was a Senior Lecturer in Modern Greek, with occasional forays into Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Studies and Medieval Studies — and computers: he was responsible for the Classics & Archaeology Virtual Museum. His current research focus is on the chronicles of John Skylitzes and George Kedrenos (12th century), and he is editing the proceedings of an international conference on Byzantine Narrative. He has extensive experience as a language teaching and curriculum consultant at all levels, as an examiner of interpreters and translators, and as an academic editor and web publisher. He is preparing for publication a number of papers and studies on the twelfth-century Madrid Skylitzes (the sole illustrated Byzantine Greek chronicle), and a translation into English of George Kedrenos’ Synopsis of Histories.
